How do I get a Site Key and Secret Key for Google reCAPTCHA?
Generate new keys | Retrieve existing keys
A great way to stop spam comments is to install a reCAPTCHA plugin or add a reCAPTCHA field to your comment form.
In order to do this you’ll need to obtain your reCAPTCHA Site Key and Secret Key.
Generate new keys
- Navigate to https://www.google.com/u/2/recaptcha/admin
- Make sure the correct Google profile is logged in (top right corner).
If not, click the profile image and switch profiles or select Add another account. - Enter the url of your website in the Label field e.g. typecreative.com.au
- Select reCAPTCHA v3.
- Under Domains, enter the url of your website e.g. typecreative.com.au
- Tick the Accept the reCAPTCHA Terms of Service check-box.
- Click Submit.
- Your site will be registered and your keys will be displayed.
There is no need to store the keys elsewhere as you will always be able to retrieve them by visiting the admin page.
Retrieve existing keys
- Navigate to https://www.google.com/u/2/recaptcha/admin
- Make sure the correct Google profile is logged in (top right corner).
If not, click the profile image and switch profiles or select Add another account. - Click the settings cog.
- Click the down-arrow to the right of reCAPTCHA keys.
- Your Site key and Secret key will be displayed.
