How do I install and setup Monster Insights for Google Analytics?


Answer

Log in to Google Analytics

  1. Navigate to https://analytics.google.com
  2. If you are not signed in automatically, sign in now using your desired Google account.
    This may be a separate Google account to your personal account if you created one specifically for your business.
  3. If you were signed in automatically, check the profile image in the top-right corner to ensure you were signed in using the desired profile.
    To switch profiles, click the profile image and selct the desired account, or click Add an acount.

Create your account and property

If you are presented with the Welcome screen

  1. Click Start measuring.
  2. Enter an acount name e.g. Type Creative.
  3. Select Google products & services – the remaining selections are optional and are not required.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Enter a Property name e.g. Type Creative website.
  6. Select your country and time zone e.g. Australia | (GMT+11:00) Melbourne Time.
  7. Set your currency e.g. Australian Dollar (AUD $).
  8. Click Show advanced options.
  9. Click the slider on the right to create a Universal Analytics property.
  10. Enter your website address e.g. www.typecreative.com.au
  11. Select Create a Universal Analytics property only.
  12. Click Next.

If you are presented with the Google Analytics Home dashboard

  1. Click Admin in the bottom-left corner.
  2. Click Create Account.
    If an account already exists,
  3. Enter an acount name e.g. Type Creative.
  4. Select Google products & services – the remaining selections are optional and are not required.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Create Property.
  7. Enter a Property name e.g. Type Creative website.
  8. Select your country and time zone e.g. Australia | (GMT+11:00) Melbourne Time.
  9. Set your currency e.g. Australian Dollar (AUD $).
  10. Click Show advanced options.
  11. Click the slider on the right to create a Universal Analytics property.
  12. Enter your website address e.g. www.typecreative.com.au
  13. Select Create a Universal Analytics property only.
  14. Click Next.

Enter your business information

  1. Select your business size.
  2. Select what you intend to use Google Analytics for.
    By default, we typically select the following:
    Measure customer engagement with my site or app
    Increase my conversions
    Analyse my online sales (for eCommerce sites)
    Measure lead generation
  3. Click Create.
  4. Select your country from the drop-down list.
  5. Tick I also accept the Data Processing Terms as required by GDPR.
  6. Tick I accept the Measurement Controller-Controller Data Protection Terms for the data that I share with Google.
  7. Click I Accept.

Analytics email communications options

  1. Click Uncheck all and save.

Install Monster Insights

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, click Plugins > Add New.
  2. Search for Monster Insights.
    The first result should be Google Analytics Dashboard Plugin for WordPress by MonsterInsights.
  3. Click Install.
  4. Click Activate.

Connect Monster Insights to your Google Analytics account

  1. Click Insights in the left-hand navigation column inyour WordPress ashboard.
  2. Click Launch Setup Wizard.
  3. Select the appropriate website category.
  4. Click Connect MonsterInsights.
  5. Select the desired Google account or click Use another account.
  6. Click Allow.
  7. Select the desired Analytics property from the drop-down list.
  8. You may wish to un-check I agree to receive important communications from MonsterInsights. However if you are new to analytics, they do send very practical and useful tips.
  9. Click Complete Connection.

Monster Insights settings

We recommend using the default settings.

If you have users with roles the Administrator, Editor (or other) roles, you can grant or deny them access to the Monster Insights reports under Who Can See Reports.

  1. Click Save and contine.
  2. Click Save and contine.
  3. Click Skip this Step.
  4. Click Finish Setup & Exit Wizard.
